From the wide spectrum of mammals, the author has chosen 83 which anyone has, at some time or another, a good chance of seeing. These are illustrated by the superb series of colour photographs most of which he has gathered over many years of painstaiking and patient field work. The photographs, together with the descriptions give in the text, should be of the greatest assistance to the observer in identifying accurately the animal they have seen.
