Review Only:

This is simply a wildly entertaining book that revolves around the past making itself reverberate in the present. Published just over twenty years ago, the book has not lost its ability to keep the reader turning its pages. It is a plot driven book with many twists and turns, creating a labyrinth of mystery for the reader to solve.

During World War II, Anna and Janet, two young women from the Warsaw Ghetto are brought together. Intelligent and resourceful, they survive the trauma of the Warsaw Ghetto and escape, joining forces with two beautiful and equally resourceful women, Genevieve and Keja, only to find more trouble along their journey to freedom. What happens to one of them will impact on the lives and future of the other three in ways they could not have imagined.

Janna Maxwell is a highly intelligent and beautiful young woman. Her mother, Anna, a survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto, and her father, Mark, the man who liberated her mother from an internment camp, are not her biological parents. While her mother can tell Janna the identity of her biological mother, that of her father remains unknown. When a series of events cause Anna's and Mark's lives to be destroyed, Janna manages to rebuild her life, creating a worldwide financial enterprise that brings her riches beyond her wildest imagination. Yet, someone or something is trying to destroy her and those whom she loves. A secret from the past is now rearing its ugly head. The only question is whether Janna can survive what lies in store for her.

This book is a definite page turner. It takes the reader on a world-wide tour, exploring the lives of the woman that are bound in the present by their link to the past. At its heart is the life of the young woman who will put to rest a mystery that has gnawed at her soul. This is an intricately plotted book that is highly suspenseful and well worth reading for its huge entertainment value. While the ending may be somewhat predictable, the plot is so well-crafted that the reader will simply not be able to put this book down.
